Tour Stop Video | Ross Thorn

Let the funny guy be funny
Most tour videos are the same video. Crowd shot, guitar close-up, a little slow motion, everybody looking extremely serious about music. Ross is not that guy. He's genuinely funny, and any version of this that sanded that off would have been a worse piece. So we worked straight with him instead of showing up with a treatment. He already knows what his bit is. Our job was catching it, leaving him room in the edit, and making sure the band and the room came through around him. Cut vertical, because that's where a tour video actually gets watched. Somebody scrolling at a bus stop is the audience here, not somebody sitting down with a laptop.
Who is
Ross Thorn
Ross Thorn is a folk musician based in Duluth, Minnesota, playing a mix of originals and covers. He tours the upper Midwest, and Madison is a regular stop on the run.

Sounds like him
Ross came out with a tour piece that leads with personality instead of the standard live-music montage, which is about the only way to stand out in a feed full of guys with acoustic guitars. Vertical from the jump meant it went straight where his audience already is.
