Product Launch Aerials | ETC
Flying a camera through light
ETC launched the ColorSource Spot V XT, and they needed aerials of it in use. Which sounds routine until you think about what a lighting launch actually is: a room full of extremely precisely aimed beams, and you're about to fly a camera through it. Everything works against you. Exposure swings wildly depending on where you are in the beam, moving through a light source blows out a frame instantly, and it's an event with people in it, so you don't get to reset the room and try again. So it's a piloting problem as much as a camera problem. Plan the paths, respect the falloff, and let the fixture be the hero. Get it right and you show off both the light and the room it's transforming in a single continuous move.

Aerials for a global launch
ETC came away with launch footage that shows the fixture doing the thing it was built to do, from angles the audience in the room never had. The material fed the promotional package for a product rolling out across their international markets.
