Custom Sapphire Ring Film | Chalmers Jewelers

Introduction

Start with the stone, end with the ring

Custom jewelry is a service people get nervous about buying, because they can't picture the middle. They know what they want at the end. They have no idea what happens between handing over an idea and getting a box back, and that gap is where people talk themselves out of it. So this one is the whole middle. A sapphire, then everything that happens to turn it into a finished ring, in order, at the bench, on camera. We shot it tight and let the work carry it. No host, no pitch, because the second somebody starts selling you on craftsmanship you stop believing in the craftsmanship. Just show the hands.

Who is

Chalmers Jewelers

Chalmers Jewelers has been on University Avenue in Middleton since 1992, family started and independently owned. Four full-time goldsmiths work on site alongside GIA graduate gemologists, which is what makes a build like this something they do in the building rather than a job they broker out.

The middle, finally visible

The film closes the gap that stops people from commissioning custom work, by showing exactly what happens between an idea and a finished ring. It also lives on YouTube, where people researching custom sapphire rings will keep turning it up long after it posted.
