Cut for where it's going
Three edits from one shoot, which sounds like a deliverables list and is really a distribution decision. Where a video is going to run should determine how it gets cut, and that call belongs at the front of the process, not after somebody asks for a shorter version. So we planned the distribution first and built the edits to fit. Different lengths, different jobs, all pulling toward the same goal, which was building interest in the conference for the years after this one. That's the useful thing about covering an annual event. This year's footage is next year's marketing. You're not documenting what happened, you're manufacturing the argument for why somebody should buy a ticket twelve months from now.

Three cuts, one plan
OnRamp came away with three edits sized for different placements rather than one video everybody had to make work everywhere, which is what actually drives registration for a next-year event. Planning the distribution before the shoot is what made three versions cost about as much as one.
