Filming a venue before it's a venue
Most venue marketing starts the day the doors open. This started before that, on purpose, as part one of a three part series following The Eloise from the very beginning through to a finished building. Documenting something while it's still becoming is a different job than documenting something that exists. You can't shoot the beautiful final thing because it isn't there. What you have instead is intention, dirt, and people describing what they're planning to make, which is only interesting if you get the interviews right. Drone earns its place here more than usual, because at this stage the site is the story. Aerials give you the land, the tree line, and the shape of the thing before there's any architecture to point a camera at.
Who is
The Eloise Venue
The Eloise is a year-round wedding venue in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin, just under half an hour from Madison, set along a wooded stretch that suits outdoor ceremonies. The space is built to be customized to each couple rather than run to a template.
A story with a head start
The Eloise ends up with an origin story most venues can never make, because by the time anybody thinks to film it the construction is already finished and gone. Starting the series early gives them footage of a moment that only existed once.
