Introduction

Thirty years is too much story

The hard part of a company story isn't gathering material. It's throwing material away. Chalmers has been at this since 1992 and every year of it has something in it, and the temptation is to include all of it, which produces a video nobody outside the family will finish. So the question we kept coming back to was which parts a customer actually needs. Not what the owners are proudest of, though there's overlap. What makes somebody choose this store instead of the chain at the mall. That's what shaped the cut. Interviews carrying the through line, drone and location work for context, design handling the timeline, and a lot of good material left on the floor on purpose.

The version a customer cares about

Chalmers ended up with a story that earns trust from somebody who has never walked in, instead of a highlight reel that only lands for people already inside it. It's the piece doing the heavy lifting on the about page and in first conversations.
