Consignment is a service people want and don't understand. Somebody inherits a watch, or has a ring they're never wearing again, and they know there's money sitting in a drawer. But the process feels murky enough that it stays in the drawer. What's it worth? Who decides that? When do I actually get paid? Chalmers needed something that answered all of it in one sitting, so we did it plainly. Evaluation, authentication, how the price gets set, where the piece sits in the store, and the part everybody actually cares about, which is when the money shows up. Teleprompter shoot, tight edit, no ornamentation. Some subjects want atmosphere. This one wanted a straight answer, and the fastest way to lose trust on a money question is to get cute about it.

Chalmers Jewelers has been on University Avenue in Middleton since 1992, family started and independently owned. About twenty people work there, including GIA graduate gemologists and four full-time goldsmiths, which is why they can evaluate and authenticate a piece in house instead of shipping it off to somebody else.
